Scholars must attend classes and successfully complete courses. In addition, scholars are expected to pay a portion of the cost of tuition and books and agree to remain in the sponsoring child care center or family child care home for at least one year following the completion of their contracts.
TEACH may cover up to 9 college credits per semester. Please speak to the TEACH team for more information.
TEACH scholars can participate more than once in the program and we welcome scholars to continue participation till they reach their academic goals.
TEACH only supports recipients interested in the early childhood education field. Our focus is to provide opportunity to further leadership skills in the early childhood education field.
No, TEACH Rhode Island can only support scholars who currently work in Rhode Island.
No. Currently the only financial responsibility the scholar has with TEACH is the 5% shared cost for tuition.
All associate and bachelor’s degree recipients must apply for federal/state financial aid to be accepted into the program. TEACH Rhode Island is able to support scholars based on funding; therefore, we encourage scholars to apply to FASFA as a secondary resource if their eligibility were to change. Students can either apply at the financial aid office of their college/university or at www.fafsa.ed.gov.
