What is the CDA Scholarship About?

TEACH Early Childhood Rhode Island provides educational scholarships to the early childhood workforce working in licensed facilities. The TEACH Early Childhood scholarship program offers a variety of scholarship options. The CDA Assessment Scholarship provides financial supports to candidates to assist with the cost of the CDA assessment fee administered by the Council for Early Childhood Professional Recognition.  Recipients are eligible to receive a bonus upon attainment of the CDA Credential. At the present time, the CDA Assessment Scholarship is only available to candidates who complete the CDA Training program at the Community College of Rhode Island.

Who is Eligible to Apply?

  • The candidate must have completed the CCRI Child Development Associate Training Program at the Community College of Rhode Island
  • The candidate must have earned a high school diploma or GED (requirement of the CDA Council)
  • The candidate must have completed at least 480 hours of professional work experience in the setting to which they are applying (requirement of the CDA Council)
  • Work a minimum of 20 hours per a week in programs that are:
    • Licensed by  the Rhode Island Department of Human Services (DHS)
    • approved to accept DHS Child Care Assistance Program (CCAP)
    • rated by BrightStars

CDA® Renewal Amnesty Program

Has your Child Development Associate (CDA®) Credential expired? The Council for Professional Recognition’s CDA® Renewal Amnesty Program offers eligible early childhood educators an opportunity to renew an expired credential—even if it expired as far back as January 1, 2016—without starting over. This limited-time opportunity is available through April 26, 2027. Financial assistance may also be available to eligible candidates.

Programa de Amnistía para la Renovación de la Credencial CDA®

¿Ha vencido su Credencial de Asociado en Desarrollo Infantil (CDA®)? El Programa de Amnistía para la Renovación de la Credencial CDA®, ofrecido por el Council for Professional Recognition, brinda a los educadores de la primera infancia que cumplen con los requisitos la oportunidad de renovar una credencial vencida, incluso si venció desde el 1 de enero de 2016, ¡sin tener que comenzar de nuevo! Esta oportunidad por tiempo limitado está disponible hasta el 26 de abril de 2027. También puede haber asistencia financiera disponible para los candidatos que cumplan con los requisitos.
